A week of cross-border learning and collaboration at KIOSC 🌏
Last week, we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming students from SRM Public School in Chennai, India, to KIOSC as part of the Global Design Challenge Program – a Department of Education initiative focused on sustainable living and clean energy.
After months of online collaboration with students from Keysborough College, the SRM group finally had the chance to experience the program in person. They jumped straight into hands-on workshops exploring hydrogen power, robotics, DNA testing, sustainable city design, and more. Their enthusiasm, questions, and creative thinking kept everyone on their toes and reminded us just how powerful global learning partnerships can be.
The visit also included a tour of Swinburne’s Future Lab, Factory of the Future exploration, an astro experience, and a chance to connect in person with their Keysborough counterparts. Together, students tackled big issues like climate change, urban wellbeing, and sustainable transport, and did it with insight, imagination, and teamwork.
We also had the honour of hosting His Excellency Dr. Sushil Kumar, Consul General of India in Melbourne, alongside senior leaders from the Department of Education and Swinburne, to discuss the future of school partnerships and cross-border collaboration.
Huge thanks to everyone who made the week such a success. It was a brilliant week of learning, connecting, and future-shaping.
