We know there have been so many challenges for Victorian teams during this last lockdown, and the organisers of the VIC regionals have devised a solution for all teams to have extra time to work together once schools are meeting in person again and to ensure that the events go forward, even with low enrolments.
Melbourne Consolidated Regional – Wantirna I & II, Roxburgh and Richmond have been combined into one event, with around 30 participating teams total.
Remote: The event will not be physical, but rather “remote”, using online platforms for judging and the robot game (more details will come later in October). Therefore no excursion will need to be organised; and this vastly reduces the chances of the event being cancelled due to COVID.
Delayed, New Date: As schools are set to begin meeting in person again in late October, the date for this regional event has been pushed back and is now scheduled for the Monday, 30 November 2020.
FIRST Australia Dashboard: If you log into your FIRST Australia Account Dashboard, you will see that your team is now registered for the Melbourne Consolidated Remote Regional. We have moved all teams over on the back end of the system; there is nothing further that you need to do.
All advancing teams will also be competing remotely in the National Championship – SOUTH on 13 December along with advancing teams from SA and TAS.
