Transition to secondary school can be a scary process for students, especially in light of the last two years in online learning. KIOSC has partnered with UNBOXY to bring to our partner schools a challenge in developing collaborative, communication and problem solving skills.
Challenging our partner school enrichment students, KIOSC invites these students in an engineering design challenge to promote cooperation and problem solving.
The Unboxy Challenge:
Aim: To create opportunities for students to engage in STEAM activities that are integrated and accredited to solve and create using UNBOXY. Being at KIOSC, there is also an additional TECH Challenge incorporated.
UNBOXY is cardboard.
Students use the kits to create an artefact that can be incorporated in the local Knox City Precinct.
The artefact will incorporate:
- An asethitically please design
- An engineered moving part
- Lighting or shadow art
Students will use design thinking tools and collect data to understand how they might be able to create an area at Knox City that is inline with Knox City Councils values.
“Our customers have told us they’re passionate about an active lifestyle, family and coming together for social experiences. They also value working close to nature, embracing culture and diversity, education and living healthy and happy lifestyles. This sets up an exciting direction for the Westfield Knox experience and we’re actively exploring how we can best deliver a multi-use offer and services mix that fits this brief, within our environment.“
