Introduction
The LEGO program aims to introduce students to the world of LEGO robotics and the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) competition. The program is divided into three terms, each with a specific focus. LEGO and FLL help students learn STEM skills like science, technology, engineering, and math. They also develop soft skills such as creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, communication, and critical thinking. These skills are valuable for real-world applications and future careers.
Program Overview
Term 1: Introduction to LEGO Robotics and FLL
- Objective: Introduce students to LEGO robotics and the FLL challenge.
- Activities: Hands-on building, programming, and a mini-competition.
- Teacher Information: How to sign up and curriculum materials
Term 3: FLL Launch
- Objective: Prepare students for the annual FLL challenge.
- Activities: Design thinking workshops, robot design and programming, and team-based challenges.
Term 4: FLL Competition
- Objective: Participate in the FLL competition. The dates for the 2025 competition at KIOSC are:
- Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 November.
- Teams will need to sign up and choose one date to attend on the FIRST Australia Dashboard.
- Activities: Competition preparation and participation.
Overall, the program aims to develop students’ creativity, problem-solving skills, teamwork, and engineering knowledge through engaging LEGO robotics activities.
