Introduction
In this immersive learning experience, students will take on the role of forensic investigators, delving into a complex homicide case. By examining a variety of evidence, including fingerprints, crime scene photos, and suspect interviews, students will develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Through hands-on activities in both field operations and laboratory settings, they will gain a deep understanding of the scientific methods used to collect, analyze, and interpret evidence, ultimately working towards a successful resolution of the case.
Program Overview
In order to solve a case homicide case, students investigate the evidence that could lead to a conclusion.
Field Operations and Information Services
Students examine physical evidence from the crime scene, such as fingerprints and crime scene virtual reality (VR) photos. They interview suspects and identify their whereabouts on the day in question. This includes: VR 360 crime scene photos, fingerprint recovery, suspect interviews and alibi research.
Lab Operations: Biometrics
Students understand the mathematical biometric measurements that can be taken at a crime scene and used as evidence. This entails electrophoresis, blood typing, polygraph, fingerprinting and more.
Lab Operations: Analytical Services
The evidence collected in the field needs to be transferred and analysed in the lab. Students will use lab techniques such as UV Spectrophotometry, chromatography, weapons analysis and more to help solve the crime.
