Introduction
Embark on a journey of creativity and design with Tinkercad, a user-friendly 3D design software, where students will transform their ideas into tangible creations. Students will design and personalize a unique keyring, showcasing their design flair and technical skills. CoSpaces introduces students to a platform for creating interactive virtual experiences. Students will learn how to design virtual worlds by adding and customizing avatars and objects, programming their movements, and incorporating speech bubbles. These skills are highly valued in a variety of fields, making 3D design and virtual reality valuable tools for both education and career preparation.
Program Overview
Explore technology and engineering designs in 2 x 60 minute workshops accompanied with 2 x 45 minute challenges using the skills learnt in each workshop:
1. TinkerCAD
This TinkerCAD workshop will equip students with the essential skills to navigate and utilize the platform effectively. Through a hands-on project of designing a personalized keyring, students will not only hone their 3D modeling abilities but also cultivate their creativity and problem-solving skills. This interactive experience will foster a deeper understanding of design principles and inspire students to explore the boundless possibilities of 3D creation, ready to tackle the challenge.
2. TinkerCAD Challenge
Students will be invited into a pre-designed TinkerCAD carnival. Their task is to add and create new items within this mini world, enhancing the carnival experience. Examples of challenges include, adding more balloons to a bunch of attractions and building a ticket booth. Prizes are awarded for creativity and efficiency of building.
3. CoSpaces
This workshop will introduce students to the exciting world of CoSpaces, a platform for creating interactive virtual experiences. Students will learn how to add and customize avatars and objects, program their movements, and incorporate speech bubbles for storytelling. Through hands-on activities, students will develop their digital literacy, creativity, and problem-solving skills while having fun designing their own virtual worlds.
4. CoSpaces Challenge
In this CoSpaces challenge, students will be transported to a pre-built Jurassic World Park. Their mission is to create a compelling narrative using the existing scenes to warn unsuspecting tourists of an imminent volcanic eruption. By strategically placing objects, characters, and incorporating code for movement and interaction, students will craft a thrilling story that guides tourists to safety, showcasing their creativity and problem-solving skills in a prehistoric adventure.
