What students will learn:

Humans are polluting the oceans at an alarming rate. Hundreds of millions of tonnes of plastic and other waste are dumped into our oceans each year. There are now ever-growing ocean garbage patches forming in our waters. This pollution is harming our marine life and ecosystems. How can we harness the power of technology to help clean up our mess?

What students will do:

  1. Learn to identify different causes of ocean pollution.
  2. Learn what an ocean garbage patch is.
  3. Discover ways that technology is helping to clean up our oceans and save the marine life.
  4. Design their own interactive ocean clean up game, using online coding platform – Scratch.

What the students will need for the online session:

  1. A computer with internet access.
  2. A Scratch Account – if they would like to keep their work.
