Introduction
How can technology improve logistical operations?
Robots, Internet of Things (IoT) and Industry 4.0 have all made significant changes in the production and distribution of consumer products. Manufacturing is changing from large scale off-shore facilities to consumer led, on demand services that can have a product to you in hours. The last 200 years methods of production have been revolutionized and by incorporating Industry 4.0 attributes, a huge shift in the global markets and our future industries is occurring.
Program Overview
This program explores the use automation and smart technologies. Students are introduced to a logistical process where a customer orders from a supermarket. Their role, throughout the day is to:
a. Pick and Place
b. Factory Line Follow
c. Deliver to customers
DOBOT Automation: Pick and Place
Students use DOBOT robotic arms and develop an autonomous approach to operating their machines and solving tasks. Learners are challenged with an order received. The task is to pick up the order with the robotic arm and prepare for dispatch at the loading bay.
Spike Prime Automation: Factory Line Follow
Learners pick up the order from the Supermarket and take it to the processing centre using factory line following sensors on the Spike Prime Robots.
Train Delivery: Deliver to customers
Students use the Intelino Trains to code their delivery pathways to each consumer in the most efficient way possible.
