Introduction:
Build Beyond Trades is a hands-on, semester-long program designed for Year 10 students who want to explore the world of trades and construction. Over 16 weeks, students will step into real-world learning at KIOSC, guided by Swinburne’s expert teachers. This program offers a unique opportunity to taste multiple trades, develop practical skills, and work collaboratively on a capstone project—a stunning water feature complete with decking, brick piers, and 12-volt lighting.
Whether students are curious about carpentry, plumbing, bricklaying, welding, or electrical work, this program is a gateway to discovering pathways in the building and construction industry.
Schools opt into the program, in discussion with KIOSC’s Director. It is uniquely designed for KIOSC partner schools for a small group of students to discover trades.
