Discovery: Guardians of the CyNet – NEW PROGRAM COMING IN 2027

INTRODUCTION

This engaging program will take students through the importance of cyber security and how to solve a cyber security attack. With a focus on networks and systems, students will apply their mathematical and logarithmic thinking to rectify real-world stimulated events.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Workshop 1: Train the Network

Focus:

  • Describe the connectedness of locations using networks
  • Understand and apply networks and relationships in real-world scenarios

Activities:

  • Challenge Brief: Engage in a cyber security hack that has occurred in a train network system
  • Problem Solving: Build a train network system that can connect multiple stations
  • Prototyping: Test and modify the network system according to locations of stops and train schedule

Success Criteria:

  • Connect multiple locations using a physical network diagram
  • Solve a real-world network problem that considers ethical dilemmas

Workshop 2: Cyber-Manufacturing Hack

Focus:

  • Understand a complex robotic system and how to engage in different components in a manufacturing line
  • Build and modify code to simulate real-world assemble lines for large scale manufacturing

 Activities:

  • Challenge Brief: Engage in an assembly line malfunction that resulted in products being scattered everywhere
  • Problem Solving: Get the robotic arm up and running again and determine how the goods can be produced again
  • Prototyping: Reiterate the assembly line process to be efficient and fast, building a conceptual network diagram to move from all the necessary locations

Success Criteria :

  • Understand the process of using network diagrams in manufacturing to efficiently rectify issues
  •  Solve a manufacturing assembly line issue using logarithmic thinking
